SR. MARIE FOUNDATION: During the persecution of the Christians in the first century, Our Blessed Mother Mary and St. John the Evangelist fled Jerusalem and settled in Ephesus, Turkey. The house in which they lived was purchased, restored, and preserved by Sr. Marie De Mandat-Grancey, Daughter of Charity (1837-1915) in 1892. Sr. Marie spent twelve years helping to find Mary’s House, Meryam Ana Evi, and then after funding the purchase and restorations, promoted devotion to Mary at the site of the Chapel from 1892 until her death. Most noteworthy is that all of Sr. Marie's work and prayers and devotion of so long ago are highlighted in these times as something else very special indeed. Mary's House is a holy and commonground for Christians and Muslins and Orthodox to at least gather upon and honor Mary, Mother of Jesus (as the Muslims call her). To this day, Muslims, Christians and Orthodox travel to this home of a Jewish Mother; certainly a sign of hope in these uncertain times of inter-religious conflict. This is the miracle Sr. Marie never could have imagined; this is what many have come to believe is her mission in these times. Marian devotion across religious lines. Again, the Mother of God, and Mother of all His children, gathers us and teaches us how to pray, if not together, at least side by side in peace. Sr. Marie leads the prayer. Thanks to the foresight, virtue, perseverance, and hard work of Sr. Marie de Mandat-Grancey, Foundress of Mary’s House, Mary is again honored, under a particularly precious and timely title; Mother of Holy Hope. MOMMAS HOUSE: MOMMAS is a home for young mothers aged 17-21 and their babies. For approximately one year, the young mothers at MOMMAS house continue their education or vocational experience interrupted by pregnancy. With guidance and direction, the young mothers can learn to support themselves and their children independently. Presently there are three houses in Long Island, NY: Malverne, Glen Cove and Brookville. RIA Music Ministry: Maria French and Gloria Giannuzzi have composed 100+ religious songs and one sacred cantata that are found in nine song collections.
